hasid
Psalm 4:3 "But know that the Lord has set apart the godly* for himself; the Lord hears when I call to Him."
*the godly The Hebrew word (hasid) is the adjective form of "steadfast love" (Hb. hesed). This term, variously rendered "godly," "saint," "faithful one," and "holy one" in the Psalms, refers to those who have genuinely laid hold of God's steadfast love; here it is singular, to stress that each faithful member of the people may have this confidence.

confidence
during my midterm evaluation today, we talked about how my biggest weakness as a teacher is that i am self-deprecating and that i often discredit what i say only moments after i say it. the fact that confidence is the struggle came as no big surprise to me because i know that i am self-deprecating. humility is hard. seeing others as more important than yourself and putting others' needs above your own (phil. 2) is NOT self-deprecation. Jesus is the ultimate example of what it is be humble and consider others' needs as more important than your own--He is, in fact, the example given in the phil. 2 passage i am referring to. now when i think of Jesus, one of the last things i think of is self-deprecating. He is simultaneously the epitome of humility and confidence, of service and authority.
When you stand on the stage you must have a sense that you are addressing the whole world, and that what you say is so important the whole world must listen.

enemy
you are not my enemy. the Liar is our enemy. the Father of lies, that great Murderer--he is our Enemy.
"Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one... that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you." John 17:11, 21
13For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. 14For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 15But if you bite and devour one another, watch out that you are not consumed by one another. 16 So I say, walk by the Spirit...the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Gal 5:13-16, 23
